Russian broadcast group CTC Media has posted a 43% rise in first quarter profit, thanks to rising audience in part due to Turkish historical drama Magnificent Century.
CTC reported total operating revenue of US$191.1m for the three months to the end of March, a rise of 15% year-on-year. Net income rose from US$22.8m to US$32.6m.
Flagship network CTC was the third most-watched channel in Russia in Q1, up one place year-on-year, though its average audience share fell from 11.2% to 11%.
Female-skewing Domashny reported a record quarterly audience share of 3.7%, up from 2.8%, which the company said was driven by the success of Magnificent Century.
